Türkler, göçebe bir millet olmaları dolayısıyla tarih boyunca çeşitli

coğrafyalarda hüküm sürmüşlerdir. Türk dili de bu hareketliliğe paralel bir yayılma

alanı göstermiştir. Bunun sonucunda da Türk dili kullanıldığı bu bölgelere göre bazı

farklılıklar kazanmıştır ki bunlar; lehçe, şive ve ağız olarak adlandırılmaktadır.
